In a year of significant changes in production, markets, and consumption habits, the wine sector is in urgent need of answers. Milano Wine Week 2024 (MWW24) brings revolutionary winds to the world of wine. Now in its seventh edition, MWW24 presents a format packed with new features, aiming to refresh a world often confined by tradition.

From October 5 to 13, the spotlight shines on an exciting schedule of innovative events and engaging activities—offering an immersive experience like no other—not just for top professionals and die-hard wine lovers but with a particular focus this year on the new generation of consumers. This event spans across Milan’s neighborhoods and locations, a city known for innovation, communication, and hospitality.

The seventh edition arrives at a crucial moment for the sector, where younger generations seem to be drifting away from wine in favor of more contemporary and accessible drinks. "If the future of wine depends on the industry's ability to adapt and engage a new generation of enthusiasts, it is time for the wine industry to adopt targeted strategies to stimulate the interest of these new consumers," says Federico Gordini, President of Milano Wine Week and founder of MWW Group.

“The challenges the sector faces are numerous, from addressing climate change—which increasingly affects the production chain—to the need to attract new generations of consumers, who feel distanced from traditional wine communication methods, and the undeniable need to invest in training hospitality and restaurant staff,” continues Gordini. “It’s in this transformative scenario that the seventh edition of Milano Wine Week takes place. Together with our partners, we’ve focused on these topics, making them the foundation on which we’ve built the main innovations of this edition."

THE NEWS

Among this year’s new features aimed at bridging the gap with Gen Z, the consumer hub Enoteca Milano Wine Week moves to one of the city’s most picturesque locations, the Dazi dell’Arco della Pace. Open for nine days, it will host an interactive and tech-savvy tasting area, with a lineup of initiatives designed to bring even the less experienced consumers closer to the world of wine. Additionally, to attract tomorrow’s wine lovers, the One Wine Night party debuts at MWW24. This exclusive event, created in collaboration with Carrefour—once again the Main Sponsor of the event—will be held at the iconic Dazi at Arco della Pace, blending wine storytelling with electronic music.

While Milano Wine Week arrives at a pivotal time for the wine industry, MWW reinforces its commitment to promoting the key figures who play a fundamental role in spreading wine culture. After the success of the first edition, the number of sommeliers from high-end Italian restaurants involved in the Wine List Italia Guide and the Grand Tasting on Sunday, October 6, doubles—from 50 to 100. This year, the event will be held at two prestigious locations: Palazzo Bovara and Palazzo Castiglioni, symbols of Milanese Art Nouveau. A delegation of 30 Head Sommeliers from around the world is also expected, supported by Ice Agency.

There’s also a change of location for the MWW Awards. At the scenic Teatro Manzoni on Monday, October 7, a revamped ceremony will host the third edition of the Italian Wine List Awards, Wine Retail Award, and Best Italian Wine Selection Award, presented by a jury of experts chaired by food and wine critic Andrea Grignaffini. In its second edition, the Freccianera Award will be given to the restaurant with the most engaging sparkling wine selection.

In terms of sustainability, Wine in Action is the first acceleration program dedicated to the most innovative wine startups. Created in collaboration with LifeGate Way, the first Italian ecosystem dedicated to sustainable startups, this initiative will showcase impactful projects at Milano Wine Week, introducing a major new focus on sustainability that will run through various moments of the event.

THE PARTNERS

Numerous important partners have joined Milano Wine Week 2024—Carrefour Italia is the Main Sponsor—once again involving consortia, organizations, and hundreds of companies from all over Italy, as well as entities from outside the sector, institutions, trade associations, and, most importantly, the general public. This year's edition stands out for an increasingly immersive and engaging format, designed to involve consumers through experiences in hundreds of venues across the Lombard metropolis.

Alessandra Grendele, Director of Merchandise, Marketing, and E-commerce at Carrefour Italia, is proud of the partnership, which has been renewed for the third time this year: “We are delighted to take part in a unique event that actively engages visitors and aims to make Italian wine heritage accessible not only to industry experts but also to curious newcomers. Large-scale retail is increasingly becoming a reference point for wine purchases, which is why Carrefour has long embarked on a journey to promote Made in Italy, both in the food and beverage sectors, to raise consumer awareness and guide them towards more conscious choices."

The official agenda of Milano Wine Week was presented today, September 18, at Palazzo Cordusio, with Federico Gordini, President of Milano Wine Week, presiding. Speakers at the press conference included Alessandra Grendele, Merchandise, Marketing, and E-commerce Director, Maurizio Zanella, Vice President of the Franciacorta Consortium; Alessandro Rossi, Wine Manager Partesa and Director of Paestum Wine Fest. Paolo Porfidio, curator of the Wine List Italia Guide, spoke on the second edition of the Wine List Italia, while Omar Bertoni, Co-Founder of LifeGate Way, highlighted Wine in Action, the incubation project for wine startups—a major new feature of MWW2024. Producer representatives included Francesca Seralvo, President of the Oltrepò Pavese Wine Consortium. The closing remarks were made by Alessandro Misani, Director of Operations at Meliá Hotels International.

Creativity and elegance on the catwalk of the 19th edition of the event organized by Wellness for You Fashion by Sabrina Spinelli and presented by Susanna Messaggio.

The splendid rooms of the Hotel Principe di Savoia in Milan once again hosted, on Sunday 22 September, the 19th edition of Fashion Art and More International Luxury Event during which, as has been the case since the beginning of the event, the creativity and elegance of the fashion designers captured the attention and applause of all those present.

Under the skilful direction of Sabrina Spinelli and presented with the usual elegance by Susanna Messaggio, the brands paraded to tell, through their creations, their story and their vision of fashion, a story capable of bringing originality and innovation to the world of fashion with a strong focus on sustainability, globalization and multi-culture.

Thus, the large and attentive audience was able to appreciate the precious meche fabrics and crepes with hand embroidery by AMR Couture Dubai, which celebrates the beauty of inclusivity, as well as the precious fabrics, rouges and applications with which Vanilla by Emily Sousa embraces and caresses the female body.

Freshness, liveliness and dynamism characterized the garments presented by the student designers of La Griffe Academy - The School of Fashion,  while Rosa Mandy's creations  -  hair flowers, crowns and fascinators of luxurious elegance - made those present dream, transporting those present into a fairytale and enchanted world.

Dreams and sensuality also in the swimsuits of MBC Bikini, small masterpieces as graceful and feminine as they are daring. But the beauty and uniqueness of each woman were also well represented by Merym, with its garments that are as sustainable as they are sophisticated.

As always, Miriam Tirinzoni offered a unique experience with her fine fabrics and personalized manufactures that tell the story of every single female universe through the tactile sensation of the fabrics and the exclusivity of her clothes.

The show was closed by Mongkol Muay Thai, already acclaimed at the recent NYFW for his sportswear that embraces with elegance and originality the traditional culture of Muay Thai and contemporary fashion trends.

Partner and sponsor of the event was the brand Omnia Profumi, which paid homage to the guests with its latest creation Perla, recently presented at Pitti Fragranze in Florence. A decidedly genderless eau de parfum, a gourmand fragrance with important notes of milk and tiaré that make it delicious and intriguing. It is part of the Stones Collection by Omnia Profumi, which for each of its fragrances bears the name of a precious stone: Amber, Madeira, Opal, Pink Opal, Fire Opal, White Diamond. Since the birth of Omnia Profumi in 2009, stones and metals have been the fulcrum of the collection: Fabrizio Tagliacarne, creator of unique jewels from a family of jewelers and gemologists, also wanted to follow his passion for essences by giving life to a new creative path. He is the Parfumeur and creator of all the eau de parfum in the Stones and Metals collections.  The brands on the catwalk of the 19th edition of Fashion Art and More:

On the occasion of Fashion Art and More Ameer presents the Arabian Deep Ocean collection, which well embodies his passion as a designer which is not only a part of life, but is life itself. Streaks and crepes with hand-embroidered fabric are the hallmarks of AMR Couture declined in women's, children's and men's clothing. Mongkol Muay Thai

Known for its authentic Muay Thai equipment - also known in the West as Thai boxing or Thai boxing - and innovative designs, the brand founded by Phakapan Salao made a spectacular entrance at NYFW 2024. Its opening day showcase set a high standard with an impressive showcasing of sportswear, streetwear and swimwear that captivated audiences. The now famous golden boxing gloves, designed specifically for fashion shows, have well highlighted the combination of the brand's craftsmanship and a touch of glamour. Mongkol Muay Thai's collection at NYFW 2024 beautifully bridged the gap between traditional Muay Thai culture and contemporary fashion trends. The sporty pieces incorporated traditional elements such as the Mongkol headband, while the streetwear and swimwear lines offered modern and elegant interpretations of classic Muay Thai equipment. A merger that highlighted the brand's respect for its roots and its forward-thinking approach to fashion.

Rosa Mandy

Her luxurious and elegant hair flowers, crowns and fascinators are entirely handmade and for their creation the designer is inspired by nature with all its beautiful colors as well as, of course, by the world of fashion. His new collection will be presented on the occasion of the 19th edition of "Fashion Art and More". Rosa Mandy will also participate in Gambia International Fashion Week from November 13 to 17 with other new pieces.

Vanilla by Emily de Sousa

Owner of the Vanilla boutique, in the charming historic center of Romano di Lombardia, Emily loves to differentiate herself and always look for new trends to strike all the senses. It is not difficult to be attracted by her boutique: from the ancient portico, among the scents of coffee and fresh flowers, comes the unmistakable limited edition fragrance for Vanilla that Emily spreads everywhere. A scent of vanilla, mixed with sweet sugar bon bons and rose petals. If Vanilla's fragrance strikes the passer-by, the window literally captures him with its mix of elegantly composed styles, a context in which Vanilla's personal style finds its perfect place with its line inspired by the Brazilian Baroque: precious fabrics, rouges and applications to enhance the woman in all her splendor of femininity and with particular attention to detail especially in the choice of material,  who must caress the woman's body like a sweet caress that protects and gives security.
